The program includes an excursion to the small city of Tomar in the middle of Portugal with passage through numerous inland villages where we can also observe rural landscapes and the existence of plantations of eucalyptus, pines, cork trees and vineyards on the way to Almourol Castle (Castelo de Almourol).

Tomar; A fortress with a great complex of buildings, a monastery, an ancient circular church and the remains of the palace of Prince Henry (Infante D.Henrique). The more complex and unique structure of the Orders in Portugal.

The Convent of Christ in Tomar was part of the most important military and religious orders in Portugal, namely the Temple, later the Knights Templar.

Here you can see like a business card of the Portuguese architecture, its "Manuelino" style and the the "Great Empire" style.

Let`s walk after to the main square through its small medieval streets, go to the oldest synagogue in Portugal from the 15th century (optional), then visit the tomb of the Grand Masters in the Church of Saint Mary of Olival (Igreja de Santa Maria do Olival), built on a special system in the 12th century which still maintains the memorials and original sculptures.

After visiting these places we go down to the city center for lunch or have a light meal in a typical small restaurant (optional).

Almourol; Fortress of the 12th century built on an island in the middle course of the River Tagus (Rio Tejo), for which only can be reached by a small boat, constitutes one of the most representative examples of military architecture of that epoch, simultaneously evoking the early days of the kingdom of Portugal and the Knights Templar.
