The National Palace of Mafra (Palácio Nacional de Mafra) is a country palace built in the 18th century in the epoch of the European Baroque and Rococo style (Late Baroque) comparable only with what the greatest absolutism built in Europe.
Even the story of the appearance of this architectural complex in a very windy area was amazing. His fate was not common and is closely intertwined with the history of this country.
Palace with a large and beautiful library, a monastery of huge dimensions and a basilica of two carillons and six organs, unique in the world.
This gigantic structure considered the biggest of Europe was recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO.
Following towards Queluz, we will visit the National Palace of Queluz (Palácio Nacional de Queluz), palace built in the 18th century for court's summer residence, of ground floor with resplendent rooms and the unusual throne and with the largest collection of sculptures in lead of Europe which they are scattered by its beautiful gardens and lakes and by a channel of running waters covered with ceramic tiles in one of the park borders.
The splendor of the past served for leisure and entertainment of the Royal Family that lived in this palace in permanence from 1794 until the departure to Brazil in 1807, in the sequence of the French invasions leaving their mark in the architecture and in its surrounding gardens.
