This excursion includes a visit to five cities and villages of Portugal, north of the capital.
Fatima; A sacred place for all Catholics, where 3 little shepherds in the early 20th century communicated with the Virgin Mary (known as Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima or only Our Lady of Fatima) which told them the 3 Fatima secrets and besides that, they had witnessed the so-called "Dance of the Sun" in one of the apparitions which was also seen by about 70.000 people.
Batalha; A monument recognized in 1983 by UNESCO as a World Heritage. The best preserved Gothic monastery in Portugal between the 14th and 16th centuries, with the first royal tomb and the oldest stained glass windows in the country. You will be able to see the Gothic "radiant" turning in a pure Portuguese style, in other words, the "Manueline" style, besides the tomb of Prince Henry, "The Navigator".
Alcobaça; Founding monument of the "Gothic Cistercian" in Portugal besides being the biggest monastery in Portugal, associated with the adoption of a new independent kingdom in Europe of the 12th century. Here are kept the most beautiful tombs of Gothic funerary sculpture guarding the immortal lovers, D.Pedro I (son of D.Afonso IV and D.Beatriz) and the galician D.Inês de Castro... a story of love and death! In addition to the best of the Gothic plasticity in the 14th century this monastery has a enormous kitchen and the most austere form of monastic life. Monument recognized by UNESCO in 1989 as a World Heritage.
Nazare; An old and small piscatorial village, actually vacation town with an enchanting bay, beaches with high and powerful waves for surfing as "Praia do Norte" (North Beach) and plenty of fish and seafood restaurants. People come here not only to enjoy the sea, gastronomy and sports, but also to go on a pilgrimage and to adore the Virgin of the Nazareth (Our Lady of the Nazareth). At the top of the cliff above the beach, there remains a small historic chapel "Ermida da Memória" (Chapel of the Memory) in honor of the Virgin. In this place, beyond this small sanctuary, will have the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent sights of the whole village, beach and sea.
Obidos; The "City of Kings" of Portugal, a charming little village in the interior of an ancient fortress of the 12th century. The narrow streets are full of small shops with all kinds of souvenirs, small houses with creepers and flowers on the facades, an unfinished aqueduct and the history of the second royal dynasty curse.

Our excursion will leave from the Lisbon region to the north towards the center of the country to the city of Fatima to visit the biggest catholic sanctuary of Portugal. We will travel along the residential districts north of the capital and will see also a more poor and rural province
In the city of Fatima, we go to the holy place for all the believers from all over the world, where the 3 little shepherds in the beginning of the 20th century communicated with the Virgin Mary who told them the 3 secrets of Fatima besides they had seen the so called "Dance of the Sun" in one of the apparitions, whhich was seen by about 70.000 people.
In the sanctuary, who wants, can walk the path of pilgrims, pray, meditate or just put some votive candles.
This excursion is very interesting for people of all the ages and creeds and involves some free time to be able to buy some "souvenirs" with Catholic symbolism in plenty shops beside the sanctuary.
